I did not know what to expect. being outside and the weather was cool. Thought it should have been inside a classroom setting to start out with. Being at the waterfront park had it's distractions of a public park dealing with people and noise of this location. But I did learn more about photography skills which is what I had hoped to do.

I took this photo during a personal project at school. The goal was to use light in a unique way. I was always interested in trying to create something dark or spooky. The black paid was a mix of chocolate syrup and charcoal. The lighting was created with a LED flashlight and a long exposure. This was one of my favorite images from this project and I am thrilled to share it!

Portland has a number of classic bars. Some have retained their original architecture. This combined with low lighting is a like a throwback to the days of the Speakeasy. I shot this in BW and focused on a martini glass against a blurred background to reflect that classic period.

Arches is considered a dark sanctuary meaning using light painting is not allowed. I went to do Astro Photography in June of 2021. This was taken approximately 2am when the Milky Way rose to the center of the arch. While it is a dark sanctuary, someone was hiking on the other side with a headlamp giving me just a touch of light painting to outline the arch. I held the wide angle lens open approximately 13-seconds, ISO 1600.
