It was great to meet other novice-ish photographers to learn some natural lighting techniques. Liked making some contacts. Wish those interactions could have been expanded a bit, especially on how to share info. Weather was a challenge. Loved how everyone went with the flow! Hayes was really helpful and good.

Friendly, helpful gathering with good tips from the host and lots of opportunity to practice. Hayes rolled with the punches that the weather delivered! I always learn something new when I attend these classes and today was no exception to that.

The weather was off-and-on rainy, but the workshop really benefited from a range of weather conditions. I thought the workshop leader handled a difficult situation really well. The Cathedral Park location (beneath the bridge) turned out to be fortunate because the bridge gave us some relief from the rain. We got some excellent instruction in the use of various reflectors and a scrim. Good workshop and well worth the time and money.

Really enjoyed this event. The location was great allowing more diverse subjects and shots which generated a lot of questions and conversations on how and why you might take the picture. Always appreciate pointing out potential shots. (Newbys missed things)

iPhone 16 Pro Max, ISO125, 121mm, f1.78, 1/60Post processing was simply a curve adjustment in Apple Photomator and a brush mask along the back edge of the mirror to raise the edge highlight.I chose this particular parking spot because I thought I could get a cool photo of my Jeep in front of the parking garage window, which has cool yellow triangular cut outs. So I backed into the spot. While backing in, I noticed the abstract canvas that my mirror was creating with the wall and window beh

I bought a Ttartisan 100mm soap bubble bokeh lens. It imitates some of the vintage lenses with this particular effect. The "bokeh" was from battery powered string lights. For the cologne connoisseurs this brand has some very good scents.

Title or Location: Bearded Iris before Bloom
Every year in the spring the Bearded Irises return. I often capture their journey from pre to post bloom. This one had little water droplets on it and I wanted to get a unique composition so I desaturated the yellow and green channels then changed the hue a bit on the red channel for a little razzle dazzle.

I have a few Alliums growing in the backyard. This was before the flowers fully bloomed a small black and yellow spider just happened to set up camp on it. To give a sense of scale the flower was about 2-1/2" across and I couldn't really see the spider without the camera and ultra macro lens.

Title or Location: Vancouver Fort Garden
I enjoy my photography in gardens. You never know what you will find in a garden. 99 of the times my camera has a 100mm macro lens on it. To me, It just opens up a whole different world whatever may be the bloom status in the garden. This was one such day. I was actually about to walk out of the garden and head home. Sprinklers had gone off and right at the gate there was this cobweb on bushes that now had gathered water droplets. Almost like as though diamonds were caught in that web instead

I enjoyed a photowalk event with Laurie Gallant and the Sacramento Photography group visiting Horton's Iris Farm. I always bring my Infrared camera with me in hopes of getting some good IR shots. When I saw the old red truck, I HAD to shoot it in IR! This is one of my favorite shots from that day and will go into my portfolio for sure!

I was on holiday in Sydney and I went to Circular Quay to take some night time photos, when I saw that the opera house was lit up. I took a couple of photos ,then went to change my lens.By the time I had done this I saw the lights on the opera house had gone out. I then realised it was a rehearsal for Vivid a Sydney winter light show which takes place around the harbour.

During the visit to the Moonlit Sanctuary Park I entered the reptiles hut and spotted this baby croc floating with only the eyes emerging from the water. It seemed just like the adult ones I had seen in Queensland, so I tried to recreate the situation as in the wild.Happy about the result.Shot with Canon RP and Canon RF 85mm f:2.
